Back then, in the 1800’s, it was the apothecaries, (the sellers of the crude drugs used at the time) who felt threatened by homeopathy and therefore were leading the attack against homeopathy and homeopaths. Today, it is the pharmaceutical juggernaut including research “scientists” who’s bread and butter is pharmaceutical company based, who lead a more insidious attack but with similar methodologies. Unfortunately, they have managed to insuate a legion of supporters who think that by attacking homeopathy they are defending science but, as this action against University of Toronto researchers shows, the opposite is true. They are attempting to stop independent scientific thought and research in order to keep research pharmaceutical company based.
